Garage-to-ADU — Safety, Income & Long-Term Equity
Project Overview
We transformed an underutilized storage garage into a high-end, fully independent one-bedroom ADU designed to support the owner’s long-term lifestyle and financial goals. The unit features a private entrance, full kitchen, smart bathroom, dedicated bedroom, walk-in closet, and a flexible living/work area—providing complete privacy for both the ADU and the primary residence. This conversion enhances on-site safety, generates passive income, and adds durable equity.
Design Strategy
Maximizing livability and privacy within the existing footprint was the primary objective. Through thoughtful space planning and architectural detailing, we created a self-contained secondary unit that integrates seamlessly with the main property. The design preserves the handcrafted wooden garage door aesthetic while discreetly positioning the ADU entry to maintain the home’s upscale character. An open kitchen pass-through to an outdoor island further extends functionality and strengthens the indoor–outdoor living experience.
